Remove your WipLstix by pulling it and the bow out at the same time. To put your WipLstix away in its case, you place the bow on top of the fiddle with the bow top even with the butt of the instrument. The bridge has a saddle on top and the bow sits in it. The frog of the bow is laid so it is offset the tuners. Now slide the violin and bow together slowly, butt end first, into the case. Do not force it! The chin rest is rolled up in the cap. To inflate the chinrest, place the stem of the tube between your index and middle finger with the thumb loosely behind the tube underneath the stem. Blow into the tube, squeeze your fingers together, and screw on the cap.
Changing strings-Simply curl the end of sring and thread it through the hole from underneath. This may take a couple of tries but just enough to give a sense of accomplishment. Slightly lift tailpiece side so end ball doesnt scratch the finish. It is a good habit to unscrew the tuner a few turns before wrapping the sting around it and then sewing string through the hole. The tuner has threads and will turn into the headstock. Generally the deeper the tuner is the harder it will be to turn and the more shallow it is the easier.
Care for your WipLstix is easy; it has a waterbased lacquer finish. It is quite water resistant and requires only intermittent cleaning with a damp cloth, like any other instrument. Do not use small ill fitting tools to tune the instrument, as this will lead to undue wear on the slots and they will need to be replaced (the slots are machined to accommodate a penny just right). If this proves too difficult to turn, find a large screwdriver that fits snug or remove the tuners and rub some graphite from a pencil on the threads to lessen the friction. Conversely, for loose tuners, I recommend ground rosin on the threads.
I hope your new WipLstix brings as much pleasure to you as making it has brought to me.
